Youth Climbing Team

The Hi-Line Climbing Team

Welcome to the Hi-Line Climbing Center Team and Thank You for your interest in youth climbing in Great Falls, MT. The HLCT is dedicated to expanding and improving climbing for our area youth through dedicated programs and technical instruction in a fun and welcoming environment.

Mission Objectives

Climbing is a terrific vehicle to expand your child’s horizons in the physical and mental realms, which can also become a life-long passion for fitness and adventure for the whole family. Climbing is a means unto itself, but for some, the thrill of competition adds a purposeful element that adds to the experience. For dedicated youth climbers, there is even the prospect of taking this sport to the world stage in international competitions and even the Olympics. For most, it adds an element of fun and a metric to track their progress or even simply to provide a fun group dynamic. Whatever the reason for joining, we are here to make sure you and your child have a fun and entertaining experience.

Team Outline

The climbing team is for children ages 5-18 years old. No experience is necessary to be part of the climbing team. Members of the team will learn teamwork, problem-solving, and functional strength from our experienced coaching staff. Whether they climb to win or climb to have fun, we have a team for that. There will be two levels on the team depending on experience and climbing ability. The coaches (and parents) and current team availability will determine who is at which level. Team members must purchase a gym membership to be on the team. Membership info can be found on our Membership Tab. Team members may use their membership to climb outside of regular practice times with adult supervision. Climbers must receive permission from Hi-Line Admin to attend different practices (it is dependent on space).

Last Best Bouldering Series

The Last Best Bouldering Series is an opportunity for climbers throughout the 406 to experience comp climbing across the Big Sky. While this is a competition, it is also an encouragement to visit the different climbing gyms across the state, to engage with new-to-you climbers, and to foster a statewide climbing community. We believe this style of comp climbing and sport embraces the ethics and culture of not just climbing, but Montana climbing – the last best of its kind. Competitions range in price from $45-65 and are not covered in team fees. Climbers will identify one or more of these competitions for which to train. Climbers may use their own equipment or the rental equipment of the Hi-Line for the competitions. Purchasing climbing shoes is highly recommended. In order to get the team members the best possible equipment, The Hi-Line is offering a 25% discount on all non-consumable merchandise for all active team members.
