Youth Climbing Team

The Hi-Line Climbing Team

Welcome to the Hi-Line Climbing Center Team and Thank You for your interest in youth climbing in Great Falls, MT. The HLCT is dedicated to expanding and improving climbing for our area youth through dedicated programs and technical instruction in a fun and welcoming environment.

Mission Objective

Climbing is a terrific vehicle to expand your child’s horizons in the physical and mental realms, which can also become a life-long passion for fitness and adventure for the whole family. Climbing is a means unto itself, but for some the thrill of competition adds a purposeful element that adds to the experience. For dedicated youth climbers, there is even the prospect of taking this sport to the world stage in international competition and even the Olympics. For most it adds an element of fun and a metric to track their progress or even simply to provide a fun group dynamic. Whatever the reason for joining, we are here to make sure you and your child have a fun and entertaining experience.

Team Outline

The climbing team is for climbers 7 and older only. Climbers should be familiar with the sport of climbing and have climbed in a recreational program prior to entering the climbing team (such as the After School Program and/or summer camp (exceptions made on individual basis, call ahead and ask)). Team members will practice twice a week from September – December. Practices are from 6:00 – 8:00PM Tuesday & Thursday. Team members must be members of The Hi-Line and are free to climb at the gym any time they would like outside of scheduled practices. Applicants for the climbing team will pay an additional $100 to cover the cost of coaching and team equipment. Membership initiation fees will be waived for all team members (This is a fee on all new memberships, not the Team Dues).

Expectations

Team members are expected to train for and climb in at least one competition of their choosing. There are 5-7 competitions held annually in Montana. Competitions range in price from $25-45 and are not covered in team fees. Climbers will identify one or more of these competitions for which to train. Climbers may use their own equipment or the rental equipment of the Hi-Line for the competitions. Purchasing climbing shoes is highly recommended. In order to get the team members the best possible equipment, The Hi-Line is offering a 25% discount on all non-consumable merchandise for all active team members.
